METTME TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE

Welcome to MettMe! Before you dive in, please take a few moments to read through these Terms and Conditions of Use (“Terms”). This is a legal contract between you and MettMe Inc., a Delaware corporation (“MettMe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Once you access, view, or use the MettMe app or website, you agree to be bound by these Terms — so it really is worth reading them first.
Please also read our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, both of which form part of these Terms and govern your use of MettMe.
1. ELIGIBILITY AND ACCOUNT REGISTRATION
1.1 Age Requirement. You must be at least 18 years old to use MettMe. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older. Some jurisdictions may impose a higher minimum age; you are responsible for complying with local law. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover a user is underage, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data.
1.2 Accurate Information. You agree to provide truthful, current, and complete information when registering and throughout your use of the Service. You must use your real name, age, and photos that accurately represent you. MettMe reserves the right to ask you to verify your identity at any time.
1.3 One Account Per Person. You may only maintain one MettMe account. Creating duplicate accounts, including to circumvent a suspension or ban, is strictly prohibited.
1.4 Account Security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized use of your account, notify us immediately at support@mettme.com.
1.5 Worldwide Availability. MettMe is available globally. In-person events are offered in select cities. If you access MettMe from outside the United States, you are responsible for complying with your local laws. Certain features may not be available in all jurisdictions.
2. THE METTME SERVICE
MettMe is a clarity-first social and dating platform that connects people based on relationship intentions, emotional availability, and shared experiences. The Service includes:
Mode-based profiles — choose your relationship intent (serious, exploring, casual, open) and match only with people who align
Compatibility matching powered by our proprietary algorithm (see Section 3 on Recommender Systems)
In-app messaging, voice, and video communication tools
Curated in-person and virtual events in participating cities
Event-based matching, post-event feedback, and social discovery features
Safety tools including reporting, blocking, profile verification, and photo check
We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. We’ll do our best to notify you of significant changes, but we are not liable for any modification, interruption, or discontinuation of any feature.
3. RECOMMENDER SYSTEMS AND MATCHING ALGORITHMS
MettMe uses automated matching algorithms and recommender systems to predict compatibility between users and to determine whose profiles you see and in what order. In accordance with applicable law (including the EU Digital Services Act), we want to be transparent about how this works.
Our matching systems take into account the following main parameters:
Your stated relationship mode and emotional availability
Your profile information, interests, and preferences
Your in-app behavior (activity level, swiping patterns, message responsiveness)
Proximity and location data (if you have granted location permissions)
Event preferences and attendance history
Feedback from post-event interactions
Your profile will be shown to other users whose stated preferences and behavior suggest compatibility with you. We do not use race, religion, national origin, or other protected characteristics as primary matching factors.
You can adjust your preferences and visibility settings in your account at any time.
4. USER CONDUCT AND COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
MettMe is built on clarity, consent, and respect. Our Community Guidelines (available at www.mettme.com/guidelines) are incorporated into these Terms and form part of our agreement with you.
4.1 You agree to:
Use MettMe only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms
Treat other users with respect, kindness, and honesty
Use your real name, age, and photos that genuinely represent you
4.2 You agree NOT to:
Harass, stalk, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users, on or off the platform
Impersonate any person, use fake photos, deepfakes, or AI-generated images to misrepresent yourself
Post or transmit content that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, discriminatory, or that promotes illegal activity
Solicit money, engage in financial fraud, romance scams, or commercial solicitation
Use MettMe to distribute spam, malware, or automated content (bots)
Collect, scrape, or harvest personal information about other users without consent
Create multiple accounts or circumvent bans, suspensions, or restrictions
Engage in conduct on or off MettMe that, in our sole determination, is inappropriate, harmful, or contrary to the spirit of our community
Violations may result in warnings, content removal, account suspension, or permanent bans, depending on the severity. We may cooperate with law enforcement for illegal conduct.
5. SAFETY, VERIFICATION, AND BACKGROUND SCREENING
Your safety is our top priority. Here is how we approach it:
5.1 Photo Verification. MettMe may offer optional or required photo verification, where we ask you to take a real-time selfie to confirm your photos match your profile. A verification badge may appear on verified profiles.
5.2 ID Verification. We may offer optional identity verification using government-issued ID. Biometric data (such as facial geometry) may be collected as part of this process. See our Privacy Policy for details on how biometric data is handled. ID verification data is stored securely and not shared with other users.
5.3 Sex Offender Registry Checks. We take the safety of our community seriously. Where technically and legally feasible, MettMe may check user information against sex offender registries and other law enforcement databases. Users who are registered sex offenders or who have been convicted of violent crimes, sexual assault, sexual harassment, human trafficking, stalking, kidnapping, child abuse, domestic abuse, murder, hate crimes, or terrorism are PROHIBITED from using MettMe. If we discover such a user, we will terminate their account immediately. IMPORTANT: No background check process is foolproof. We cannot guarantee the safety of any user and do not represent that all users have been screened.
5.4 Content Moderation. We use a combination of automated systems and human moderators to review accounts, photos, messages, and other content for violations of our Terms and Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to review, pre-screen, remove, or restrict any content or account, including direct messages, where we have reason to believe a violation has occurred.
5.5 Reporting. If you encounter behavior that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, please use the in-app “Report” function. False reports made maliciously or in bad faith may themselves violate these Terms.
5.6 Offline Meeting Safety Disclaimer. METTME DOES NOT CONDUCT UNIVERSAL CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ALL USERS. When you choose to meet someone in person — whether through a MettMe event or privately arranged — you do so at your own risk. We strongly recommend:
Always meet for the first time in a public, populated place
Tell a trusted friend or family member who you are meeting and where
Arrange your own transportation — never depend on your date for a ride
Do not share sensitive personal information (home address, financial details, workplace) until you feel comfortable and trust the person
Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave
Report any threatening or dangerous behavior to local law enforcement and to MettMe immediately
6. CONTENT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
6.1 Your Content. You retain ownership of the photos, text, videos, and other content you post on MettMe (“Your Content”). By posting, you grant MettMe a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, copy, modify, distribute, publicly display, and perform Your Content to operate and promote the Service. This license ends when Your Content is deleted, except where it has already been shared with others.
6.2 Your Responsibility. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to all content you post, that it does not infringe third-party rights, and that it complies with these Terms and applicable law. You are solely responsible for Your Content.
6.3 MettMe Intellectual Property. All software, algorithms, logos, designs, graphics, text, and compilations on MettMe are owned by or licensed to MettMe Inc. and are protected by US and international intellectual property laws. “MettMe” and our logo are registered trademarks. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our express written permission.
6.4 DMCA / Copyright. If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on MettMe without authorization, please contact us at legal@mettme.com with the subject line “DMCA Takedown Request” and the relevant details. We respond to valid DMCA notices in accordance with applicable law.
7. SUBSCRIPTIONS, PURCHASES, AND PAYMENTS
7.1 Free and Premium Features. MettMe offers both free and paid features. Paid features include subscriptions (“MettMe Premium”) and one-time purchases such as Boosts and event tickets.
7.2 Auto-Renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual, as selected) unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize MettMe (or our designated payment processor) to charge your selected payment method at the start of each billing period.
7.3 Payment Methods. Payments may be made through:
Apple App Store (billed through your Apple ID)
Google Play Store (billed through your Google account)
Direct payment via credit/debit card, PayPal, or other methods available on our website
7.4 Price Changes. We may change subscription prices at any time. For existing subscribers, we will give you at least 30 days’ advance notice via email or in-app notification before a price increase takes effect. If you do not agree with the new price, you may cancel before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
7.5 Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops your subscription from renewing at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until the period end. Cancellation methods depend on how you subscribed — see our Refund and Cancellation Policy for detailed instructions.
7.6 Taxes. Prices may not include applicable taxes. You are responsible for taxes applicable in your jurisdiction. MettMe will collect taxes where required by law.
7.7 Chargebacks. If you initiate a chargeback or payment reversal with your bank or card issuer, MettMe may immediately suspend or terminate your account on the basis that you have determined you no longer wish to use the Service. If the chargeback is reversed or resolved in our favor, please contact support@mettme.com to discuss reinstatement. Chargebacks initiated fraudulently or in bad faith may result in a permanent ban.
8. TERMINATION AND ACCOUNT DELETION
8.1 Termination by You. You may delete your MettMe account at any time through the in-app settings. Your profile will be removed from public view promptly. If you change your mind, accounts may be restorable for up to 28 days after deletion — after that, the deletion becomes permanent.
8.2 Termination by MettMe. We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without prior notice, if we determine (in our sole discretion) that you have:
Violated these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or any applicable law
Engaged in conduct on or off MettMe that we deem inappropriate, harmful, or contrary to the interests of our community
Created fake profiles, impersonated others, or misrepresented yourself
Engaged in harassment, fraud, scams, or violent or threatening behavior
Created multiple accounts, particularly after a prior ban or suspension
Initiated a chargeback or payment reversal
Been convicted of or pled guilty/no contest to a felony, sexual misconduct, or violent crime
8.3 Effect of Termination. Upon termination, your access to MettMe ceases immediately. You will lose access to your matches, messages, events, and any remaining subscription benefits. No refunds will be issued for unused subscription time following termination for cause, except where required by law. Sections of these Terms that by their nature survive termination will continue to apply.
8.4 Account Inactivity. If your account is inactive (no logins, no activity) for 4 or more years, we may delete your account and associated data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and data retention practices.
8.5 Appeals. If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may submit an appeal through our Appeal Center at www.mettme.com/appeal or by emailing appeals@mettme.com. We will review your appeal, but cannot guarantee reinstatement. We may not be able to share the specific reason for termination where doing so would compromise the safety or privacy of other users.
9. EVENTS
9.1 MettMe Events. MettMe organizes curated social events (blind dates, speed dating, coffee meets, music events, and more) in participating cities. Events may be in-person or virtual. Event availability varies by location and is subject to change.
9.2 Event Tickets. Some events require paid tickets. Ticket purchase constitutes your agreement to the specific event rules, safety guidelines, and any event-specific terms communicated at the time of purchase.
9.3 Conduct at Events. You agree to follow all MettMe event guidelines and to treat other attendees respectfully. MettMe reserves the right to remove any attendee from an event without refund for violation of these Terms or event-specific rules.

10. DISCLAIMERS
10.1 “AS IS” Service. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR CONTINUOUS AVAILABILITY.
10.2 No Guarantee of Results. MettMe does not guarantee that you will find compatible matches, form relationships, or achieve any particular outcome from using the Service. Dating and relationships involve unpredictable human factors outside our control.
10.3 No Warranty of User Authenticity. Despite verification efforts, we cannot guarantee the identity, authenticity, or accuracy of user profiles. Verification features reduce but do not eliminate the risk of inauthentic profiles or bad actors.
10.4 Service Interruptions. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to MettMe. Maintenance, technical issues, or events beyond our control may cause service disruptions.
11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
11.1 TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, METTME, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM:
(a) Your use of or inability to use the Service;
(b) Any conduct, content, or actions of other users, whether online or offline, including physical injury, emotional distress, financial loss, or death;
(c) Unauthorized access to or alteration of your account or transmissions;
(d) Any service interruptions, technical errors, or security breaches;
(e) Any content posted, transmitted, or otherwise made available on the Service.
11.2 AGGREGATE LIABILITY CAP. IN NO EVENT SHALL METTME’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO METTME IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM; OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100 USD).
11.3 Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on damages. If you reside in such a jurisdiction, some of the above limitations may not apply to you, and our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
12. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MettMe Inc. and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and attorney’s fees arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) Your Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any rights of any third party; (e) your offline conduct or interactions with other users; or (f) any misrepresentation you make.
13. DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND ARBITRATION
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT.
13.1 Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and applicable federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 Informal Resolution First. Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@mettme.com to try to resolve the dispute informally. We’ll work in good faith to address your concern. If it is not resolved within 60 days, either party may pursue formal proceedings.
13.3 Binding Arbitration. You and MettMe agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service — except as provided in Section 13.7 — shall be resolved by final and binding arbitration, rather than in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this agreement.
13.4 Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (available at www.adr.org or by calling 1-800-778-7879). Hearings may be conducted by telephone, video, written submissions, or in person, as mutually agreed.
13.5 Class Action Waiver. YOU AND METTME AGREE THAT EACH PARTY MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, REPRESENTATIVE, OR COLLECTIVE PROCEEDING. No arbitrator may consolidate more than one person’s claims or preside over a class or representative proceeding.
13.6 Arbitration Opt-Out. You have the right to opt out of binding arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by sending written notice to legal@mettme.com with the subject line “ARBITRATION OPT-OUT.” Your notice must include your name, username, and account email. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in court per Section 13.8.
13.7 Exceptions to Arbitration. Either party may bring claims in small claims court for disputes that qualify. Either party may also seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court for infringement or misappropriation of intellectual property rights, without first going through informal resolution or arbitration.
13.8 Venue. For any claims not subject to arbitration, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wilmington, Delaware.
14. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance via email or prominent in-app notice. If you continue to use MettMe after the effective date of the revised Terms, you accept the changes. If you disagree, you may delete your account before the changes take effect.
15. GENERAL PROVISIONS
15.1 Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund and Cancellation Policy, and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and MettMe.
15.2 Severability. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
15.3 No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
15.4 Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to an affiliate or successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
15.5 Force Majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, or third-party service failures.
15.6 Export Controls. You agree to comply with all applicable US export control and sanctions laws. You confirm you are not located in or a national of a US-embargoed country, and are not on any US government prohibited persons list.
